Make a Surgical Mask

Help stop the spread.  Care for others. Care for yourself. Make Face Masks.

Step #1 Pick a pattern and tutorial that works for you.

Tip:  Try this website for many options.  I have tried most of them and it really depends on fit preference. You can find other patterns here that only require cotton fabric:

Step #2 Gather materials.

Tip:  use elastic hair bands or hair ties since finding ¼” elastic is difficult to obtain

Use any cotton fabric such as fabric used for quilting.  Walmart and JoAnn Fabric stores sell “fat quarters” which is enough to make 1-2 masks.  Both have buy online options and curbside pickup.

Step #3 Give away

Make them and provide for family members that need to leave the house. Or donated to health care workers you may know.

Tip:  if you don’t know any health care workers, Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale has a drop box at church reception. Click for map to Calvary location.
